Obsessives only: Shields getting more serious about Vinyl setup

This excerpt from an interview with Shields in The Vinyl Factory's new book Passion For Vinyl has some worthwhile comments. He mentions the investments he's been making in some quality equipment and how he's noticed just how diverse pressings of any given record can be. (An original pressing of a Beatles record from 1968 is certainly no guarantee that another one from 1972 won't blow it out of the water as my friends at Better-Records.com have taught me.) He also mentions an anecdote about staying at a club owner's home in lieu of payment in their early days, and it paid off due to the records they had access to. Probably only for obsessives like me, but he does mention some obscure bands from their stay in Holland and some other interesting tidbits. Maybe the full interview has a lot more info.
